 Trip to inverell
« Thread Started on Sept 24, 2009, 10:17am »

Hey Guys and gals,

Just got back from a couple of days at Inverell.
And they haven't had so much rain for ages, oh and then there was the dust storm and wind !!!!!!! :(

But any way we had a good time and sussed out some good fossicking spots for when the weather improves for us.

Got to do some fossicking at ' 7 Oaks ', a top spot for a few dollars with everything supplied, sieves shovels buckets water and even tweezers as well as all the wash you can handle. 8-)

And there is sapphire in the wash as it's what he digs for himself,
as my 5.8 carat blue sapphire will tesify ;D. Also got a handfull of 1/2 - 1 carat sized stones and then the teenagers got " so over it " and we headed off to appease their hunger pains. >:(

Can't wait to get back for another go !

Peter

Dad, so the new owners are keeping it open then? When I was planning to go up there it was Vince & Myrna Byrnes' business & it was just before the new owners took over, I asked if they knew if it would remain open & they said that they didn't know. I totally forgot about it until I read your post. I'll have to have a talk with my brother about another Inverell trip... Thanks for the info.

Michael.

Sorry Michael,

I totally missed your post.

They look as tho they are there to stay and they have a website,

http://www.sapphiresinverell.com.au/sapphires/gems/index.asp.

They have upgraded facilities since the pics on the website.
