Hey all, Just wanted to share a bit of an experience i had today with some douche bag dredger in a creek to the West of Mogo. Now usually i don't have a problem with any man doing his thing. But this asshole had a 4" keene dredge and to say the least he was tearing the living crap out of the place.. AGAIN, fine.. fair enough.. You want to dredge illegally go for it.. Anyway he spotted me.. and the S!@# hit the fan.. he shut off the dredge and was going off his tits making threats like you wouldn't believe.. My wife Sarah headed for the car.. and when i was done laughing at this F!@# tard.. i did too.. Anyway i figured screw him, took down his rego called the local police and let them know the smoo was out illegally dredging.. and went off his knob when spotted.. they sounded rather interested.. Anyway Good times! day ruined by some dip crap that can't follow some simple rules.. Anyway we headed off to another spot up behind Buckenbowra.. hell of a road! but worth the drive in.. Anyway just thought i would share..

Nice colour. Its a shame you had to run into someone like that. Language no good especially around a lady. I'd love to be able to dredge but it's illegal. There would be many that share my view. I won't buy into the politics. That's why we don't discuss it on the forum. When he gets caught he will go a row of sh.t houses. donny

G'day Hbeng Given that most of the area west of Mogo is State Forest I'm sure the local Forestry office at Batemans Bay would be most interested in this mongrel and his activities.
This is just another perfect example of peoples greed and disregard for rules when the price of gold is so high.

Yeah, I own a 2" keene dredge, been sitting in the back shed for years going to waste, would love to get out at use it,, but i'm not going to risk a bloody big fine to give it a go..
and Ric, agreed.. my Uncle works for forests so i gave him a quick call lastnight to let him know..
Dredging is a practice that only really works in the larger streams/rivers.. when the next good flood will blow the tailings away... and not leave anything laying around for the greenies to scream about lol...
some people just take it too far.. and don't give a flying fart about the next guy..

Dis regard my last post, must have hit a wrong key. When I was dredging back in the 1980s when dredging was legal in Victoria. I did have my registration number painted on both sides of my dredge On an occasion while dredging a rock bar that disappeared into the river bank I came across a reef which went into the bank, but the law was I couldn't follow it beyond the normal course of the river flow. I could be a very wealthy guy if it wasn't for the law of the day. Flying Scott

Yep, pretty sure most of us agree.. dredging should be legal... but regulated..
I always enjoyed it, but hated seeing people abuse the privilege.
Many years ago, hmm i would have been about 17-18... i use to go to wee jasper, and hit some of the small creeks with my 45x6 sluice.. had an awesome time... then one day i arrive at the same old spot.. to find someone with a dredge had been in... no water flow, and about 2 feet of fine gravel over all the exposed bedrock.. pretty much it wasn't the creek i remembered..
I was one ticked off camper... never been back since.. Just takes 1 jackass to ruin it for all..

Heading to Mogo tomorrow for 2 days panning and detecting.
Will try and give my GoldBug 2 a good go.
Where was the guy with the dredge? Was he on the creeks along Buckenbowra rd?

Let it be known that there isn't a shortage of bullets (blanks) in Mogo Forest.
Very annoying to say the least in the diggings thanks to the army. Of all the places why on mullocks heaps did they use their machine guns.

have to agree with you about the bullets, we have found hundreds of blank rounds, and lead and empty casings from just behind the town all through the bush, to the west for several kilometres. Shame that the price of brass and lead isn't the same as gold!! There must be gold still there, but the amount of rubbish, and the sore back from digging so many false target is very off putting......won't stop us from going back tho', there are a number of outcrops to the west that we want to check out further, still being very inexperienced with the machine. good luck with the hunt. Cheers geoff n grace.

Just did 2 hours at Mogo yesterday.
Found a sixpence and found some diggings that I have been able to pan out some color afterwards.
Just wondering where are the creeks with water in them?
