Took me almost a year using detector and panning, I covered a fair bit of land, from Dargo to the triangle and the Gaulburn and Big river. Took about 1/2 that time to get my second ounce. Flying Scott

In one year (2012) I got over 3.5 oz and in 2013 I got just under 2oz. All in nuggets and all in the triangle with a detector. nugget893

Hi fatso, The triangle is The Golden Triangle in Victoria and covers an area roughly from Ballarat to Bendigo and out to Stawell. Hope this helps and may it not take you 20 years like it did me to get my first ounce of gold. Thankfully my second ounce came in a fraction of that time. Rowdy

My 1st ounce was accumulated over a number of years prospecting on & off from 1992 to 1999. About 14 grams prior to '99, then 17 grams crevicing in my first 3 months at Reedy creek in '99. Then I built my first big river sluice & it all got a lot easier for the subsequent ounces.

So I won,t mention the 1g I have found thus far....... I agree, you can work hard for or you can make it a relaxing weekend picking up a spec or two and just enjoy the outdoors.

It's me again. I am getting closer to my 80th birthday every day, I still get into the Victorian rivers to do a bit of Fishing. Will probably never get another ounce of gold, but I carry in my fishing bag a steel garden trowel with a couple of strategic placed tubes and bars on it. Difficult to describe, you need to use your imagination. The tip of the trowel has been ground down on both sides to give it a bit of a sharper point, then the sides have been bent upwards, this gives me a nice sharp tool with sides to get into the cracks in the rocks from there I can physically suck up or use a stirrup pump device I made or to retrieve with tweezers the deposits that were trapped between the rocks, all in miniature, then comes the purpose of the bars to retain the finer grains gold. I add to that, I am still getting gold by that method, though not much. I have given you a rough description of my device, difficult to explain everything here, Flying Scott.
