That is short by a lot, I guse the other fouroums have seen the same news and have there members sign on. Since I signed on I have been contacted a number of time by the sight running the voteing, to sign my suport for other peoples issues. I dont know how or why they targeted me,but there must be a way of asking otheres to suport our cause through the same system. Rick would that be some thing that Administeration would look in to. Lab

I dont like being contacted by others to help save sharks or contribute money to build a monument for some fictitous scam. I withdrew my name and support from that petition site. It is being used by greenies and scammers. I am sure other prospecting forums are also supporting similar petitions.

Likewise Donny I got sick and tired of the saturation emails wanting me to support every known cause to man. I do however support our current fight. I originally signed up to that site to sign the petition re the One Punch laws after the young guy was killed. It still sickens me whenever I hear of some meathead using his fists instead of his brain. Sadly it is a mentality bred into them by their own fathers and in many cases fathers mates as well.

I just signed the petition. Numbers still very low. {we need more attention drawn to this matter} how about some of us start ringing (a currant affairs) #or the project# for some talk time, tell all the prospecting Grey nomads and family's what's really at stake. Who knows metal detecting Could be next on the list ,if this goes thru .but we will need some one with some brains and who knows how to talk to The community in a responsible understanding way.no big words strait to the point

I am still trying to work out whats behind dropping the Miners Right from $90 for 10 years to $17.20. When was the last time anything dropped in price that much? Is it to motivate more people to get out and have a bit of prospect with a sluice/HB etc? Hmmm...In this over sanitised, clinical and highly regulated life that is slowly enveloping us - it's hard to believe that they would encourage this grass roots hobby. Or... is it a prelude of what's to come? Panning Only ( where it will take decades to build up any gold that could be worth selling if that's your thing ) I just hope they didn't pass on any savings from axing any Ranger jobs. We need these guys to keep an eye on the cowboys who do the wrong thing. Sorry for the cynicism - although I do notice that they no longer offer a 1 year licence ( which was $10.) Maybe they are locking potential fossickers in to a flat $17.20 and therefore a profit/increase. That I CAN understand and hope thats the case...
Keep on signing...

My thoughts would be a 10 year licence cuts down on a lot of paperwork and admin costs. By making it cheaper, more people will do the right thing and get one. By getting a licence, they will be more aware of what is and isn't allowed. It also gives the option to take legal action in sever cases. By people doing the right thing and getting a licence, it is an indication to the government of how many people out there are engaged in fossicking/mining. Ten year licenses do create a lot of dead licences though. People got one, went once and never done it again. This actually works in out favour as it looks like more voters are actually involved than may be the case.

During the last century, it is quite obvious that some panning, sluicing have NOT damaged our rivers. Floods, water erosion, climatic weathering (snow, heat, cold) have done their natural jobs as usual. With our prospectors using manual tools, meaning pan and sluices, combined with their education about and care for nature, there is no way prospectors are in the business of damaging a natural leisure that relax people, get them out of mental stress and retirement boredom which we all know lead more rapidly to depression and sickness. People who are in the business of making our planet a kingdom of restriction rather than safe enjoyment should take a shuttle to all those newly available planets. You can have a whole environment to shape. Here valleys and rivers have reached their depths not through men's labour. It was by nature's force. Look at the unnatural things that now look so natural to us that it no longer makes sense how we can tolerate them. If you want a clean planet, know how to go about it first. Don't use methods that remove a tiny harmless enjoyment from your co-earthlings. If you want a clean earth, start by teaching people a clean body and soul. I say NO to banning sluice. I say NO to all that immoral restriction of people on a harmless hobby. Come and see me do a year sluicing with my friend and tell me if I can do 1% of what a flood, fire, natural water flow erosion and weathering can do to any river. If you say yes after a proper analysis, I will not sign this. But you cannot prove the unprovable. So I sign to stop all those proposals. I also sign to REMOVE anyone in that system whose role as an earth saver, is to squash harmless activities but are oblivious to the 'poles' hanging in their eye.
