Well i made it back last night after two weeks up at Armidale for UNI. Managed to sneak in a bit of panning in between study, field trips and prac's. Ended up with some nice zircon and a few other gems and minerals as well as a bit of gold. Also managed to find a micro copper deposit in the form of malachite and chalcopyrite in a granitic outcrop. I really love the country up that way. Will take a few photo's to post up later of some of the goodies.

Wow, pretty cool collection shivan, can you give us a bit of a list on what the stones are mate, my geology is not that good, gold alway looks good no matter how much one gets, love the stuff, coarse aswell. Lenny

Cheers guys. A wee bit of chunky gold is always good for the soul ended up with about 2.5 grams from just panning. Lenny most of the red stones are zircon with a few garnets as well. The orange/yellow in the first pic, i think is citrine though it could be zircon, the big crystal in the first pic is quartz, the other clear/white stones are quartz and topaz, but there are 3-4 tiny stones we are hoping may be diamonds one of which is to the left of the others in the third pic. The last two photos were of granodiorite or possibly monzogranite with green malachite and some brassy yellow (gold looking)chalcopyrite along some of the rusty looking vein, though they did not show up so well.

Thanks shivan, those pictures i will use for a referance for my own panning trips, always getting some type of gem. Getting gems like that shivan, you may have to take up lapidary, lol. Hope they are diamonds in your bootie mate. Lenny
