. We kicked of this years Laanecoorie Gold Bash with the BBQ fund raiser here in Maryborough. Starting at about 8.30 in the morning in bright and warm sunshine. My helpers turning up bright and early and we set to work cooking snags and onions by 9.am. The first customer turned up a few minutes later for a wholesome breakfast. And we didn't stop then until about 2.30. Some of us were doing the cooking, others preparing the onions and bread and others collecting money and serving. Gary and Tania kept us all in fits of laughter doing the cooking. The way these two were stirring each other, you would have thought they were Husband and Wife. Gabby could not get over how many people just gave us a straight money donation. What we made after all deductions - $343.35. But this would not have been possible if it was not for the fantastic crew of helpers that come along and gave up their time for this worthy course. Gary (Flyspecks), Gabby, Tania (wombatroo), Bruce (Grandfather Johnson), Andy, Dianne, Manny (Goldenchild). Many thanks Guys & Gals for your great effort. I would also like to thank Woolies Supermarket (Safeway) Maryborough for their support to this years Gold Bash."Thank You" nugget893 .

Hi Bill and all Laanecoorie Gold Bash people.
I can't express how bad I feel with the failure of the Peter McCallum banners not arriving on time. I sincerely hope that not having them for the BBQ last Saturday did not impact too severely on your fund raising.
Incompetence on behalf of the couriers has let us all down. I have been informed by the shipping agent that they will be delivered today. Bloody hopeless, I could have walked them to Maryborough in less time.
I have sent an email to the Peter McCallum Research Institute apologizing. They were kind enough to send me the high resolution image that was used to make the banners.
Hope the rest of the event happens very successfully and without any hickups.
Jeff

From what Bill found out & told us on Saturday, the banners left the Melbourne depot at 6:30 on Thursday MORNING. How on earth they could NOT have been delivered the 200 kms to Bill's place by Friday afternoon is beyond us. I don't know how some of these couriers stay in business, the way they operate.

According to the couriers tracking system, the banners arrived in Melbourne at 6am Tuesday, departed the depot in Melbourne at 2.23pm Tuesday heading for Maryborough. All that I can say is that that courier company should upgrade their wheel barrows. Surely if they are using a van or truck it's not going to take 6 days to get there. Had I known that it would take 7 days from Canberra to Maryborough, I would have walked it there myself.

The banners finally arrived today by Australia Post. They did not start out with Australia Post and should have arrived all the way by courier. It took 7 days to come from Canberra to Maryborough. It only took the old time diggers 5 to 6 days to walk from Melboroune to Maryborough. Jeff you did one hell of a fantastic job on the banners mate Thanks a lot. We'll use them at the Bash it self. nugget893
