Here it is, the new radical bit of kit. The top hopper is 605mm long & 365mm wide tapering to 327mm. Bottom hopper is 1205mm long & 398mm wide tapering to 315mm. The top hopper just slips on the front of the bottom hopper.
Longways view. Bread crate is 600mm long.
Spray bar has 2 rows of 6mm holes so it floods rather than sprays.
The top hopper legs. Last photo shows why they are on the end instead of the side.
Classifier is 605mm long. The bigger rocks caught here are raked off the side.
Top hopper & fits inside bottom hopper with it's legs underneath it for carrying. I'll use a strap around it when carrying.

Are you going to round off some of those right angle corners because I always seem to catch my hands on the corners and when my hands are wet they slice quite easily. Should catch a bit of gold with it, how long to it's first work out? Rowdy

Thanks Joe. Yeah I was thinking of that Rowdy. The corners are already rounded off a bit, but I'm going to round them off more. Going up end of next week for it's first proper workout.

@ Ian. Yes it is an interesting design mate, but it's not mine. I modified it from one I saw at Reedy creek years ago.
@ mushmouse. It's not all that light. The hoppers are 1.6mm whereas my others are 1mm so that adds some weight & the bottom hopper is also a fair bit bigger. I'd say it probably weighs about 8-9 kgs which is on par with my river sluice.
Before I even bought the aluminium sheet & was formulating in my head how I was going to build it, I already knew how I was going to carry it. Last Easter, I came up with an idea how to easily carry the river sluice back to the car. *You know where I was at the creek & how far I was camped from it. I tied a rope to the leg brackets & slung that over my shoulder, was so much easier to carry. So that's how I'll carry this one as well, but I'll use an easily attachable webbing strap instead of rope.

Close to me? You're a funny fella Joe. That frame is in "Victoria Park" which is a suburb of Perth WA & is 3250 kms from me.
The Alice Pack idea is a good option if there are 2 people to share carrying the load, but for a single person it's not so good. You want to be able to carry ALL your gear to the creek & back to the car in ONE trip each way. This is important if you are parked more than, say, 50 metres from the creek.
There are quite a few spots along Reedy Creek where I have to walk up to 300 metres or more from the closest place I can park the car. So I use a backpack to carry my hoses (and associated bits & pieces), pans, 1 inch pump goes in the bottom of the back pack, spare fuel for the pump, lunch & flask of coffee, etc. Folding camp stool & two 10 litre buckets are attached to the outside of the pack & 2 army canteens of water on a webbing belt around my waist.
That leaves my hands free to carry the sluice in one & shovel in the other. If I'm using the 1 1/2" pump, that won't fit in the back pack, so in that case, one hand to carry it & the other for the sluice & shovel.

didn't see the "Park" just Victoria - sorry mate I found that bread crate in its original state clogs up real fast but you'll figure it out when testing or can use Wal's config

didn't see the "Park" just Victoria I thought that might have been what happened Joe. An easy mistake to make. Yeah, I've seen Wal's config & already thought of taking a saw blade to alter mine if the original clogs up. Thanks anyway for the thoughtful tip.
