Was recently scouring Google Maps for likely prospecting areas and was looking closely at the Tyers River West Branch as a possible target. I saw that that the Tyers River as a tributary of the Latrobe was off limits but am confused as to whether that then covers branches/tributarys of the Tyers aswell. Have had ppl tell me that unless the Ck/Rvr is actually named on the list that it is fair game but had others tell me that a branch of a named river is still a part of that river system. As im not prepared to just assume and lose everything lol thought id seek some clarification. Cheers, y4k

If the list did have 'Tyers River West Branch Tributary of Tyers River' I would think then ..yeah..it would be off limits. You could call the Bairnsdale DEPI office on (03) 5152 0400 to check. Tributary definition : A tributary[1] or affluent[2] is a stream or river that flows into a main stem (or parent) river or a lake.[3] A tributary does not flow directly into a sea or ocean. Therefore 'Tyers River Tributary' ( the river ) of 'La Trobe River' ( the parent ) The list can be ambigious and confusing. They really could just put Tyers River Watershed or Branches if they want to exempt all. I reckon we can all read a map pretty well to then see whats in or out...

surly it would say the tyers and tributaries The only reference it makes to Tyers river is as a tributary of the Latrobe River, doesnt mention anything about tributarys of Tyers River itself and rather than make my own interpretation and more than likely be wrong i thought id ask the question lol

I agree mush, for noobs like myself it comes across as pretty confusing but i guess there are reasons, if they were to name every single one individually the list (which is far too long already imo lol) would be 10 times as long... Tks for the number will give the a bell and ask the question ?

There is definitely gold in them thar rivers I have been there done that many years ago. Now the long haired purple people eaters who object to contributing to the Australian economy by means of retrieving gold have put restrictions upon our freedom to do such, might have to consume another Carlton draught or 2 or 3 or 6 to bust the economy
