hecklerfabrication.com
Absolutly the best built and designed and best value for money highbankers on the market, there are no other manafactures that I know of that offer ribbed matting, miners moss and riffles plus expanded metal as standard on all sluices/highbankers and how about this for inovation a bubble brush mounted on the slick plate to break the water tension,AWESOME!!! Dont mean to brag but I've got the 5ft highbanker mounted on big wheels (turns into its own trolley) with the the 4ft 4 stage double deck fine gold recovery extension that's a 9ft long highbanker/sluice plus a 3" hydro force nozzle for BOOMING and I must include my 60cube that's capable of pumping 60,000LT of water an hour high pressure water pump on its way FRICKIN AWESOME CANT SLEEP I'M SO EXCITED !!!!!

Agree fully with you Stack992. Hecklerfabrication makes some pretty impressive gear. I have looked at their trommels, b**** fantastic, just a bit large for what I need. I haven't actually seen their highbankers but can imagine they would be exceptional. Why can't someone here make stuff like that ;D ;D

seems most people that have these angus mackirk sluices speak fairly highly of them? might be easier to ask has anyone got anything bad to say about them lol ;D ;D cheap enough and seems that everyone reckons they work alright. might have to add one to the shopping list if only i could find someone who actually has one in stock ;D

Hi all Has anyone tried a Eldorado 2 tier sluice. They seem to be the only highbanker style available in Aus.

Those heckler trommels look great! Would have to sort it out to recirculate hopefully they add that to there models in development and I will be in the queue it's exactly what I've been looking for. When I bought my highbanker Nuggets From Downunder was one of the only spots who actually carry stock, the rest order as needed. I got a Keene a52, mainly because if the versatility , add a flare to the riffle tray it's a river sluice, stick a hopper and legs on and it's a highbanker, comes with dredge attachment too. Despite previous posts stating dredging of any kind or type is illegal, I can guarantee you that with the correct paperwork these too are still possible yet slightly more difficult. I actually worked on a road diversion 2 years ago when we had to get approval to dredge a local stream to put footings in and there was nowhere saying we couldn't add a filter (sluice box ) to the outlet. Obviously you can't use dredges or large scale machinery where ever you want, but with a works permit or a mining lease you can. And mining leases are not as impossible to get as you may be led to believe. With the thousands most of us have spent and gear and the ever rising cost of fuel, 5-10k for a mining lease is pretty reasonable.

Hi all Has anyone tried a Eldorado 2 tier sluice. They seem to be the only highbanker style available in Aus. Dave I think Big Andy on here has one. I borrowed it at the Easter trip @ Eldorado & used it a few hours. Worked great. Compact & very simple. I'll be making my own one similar to this one. I think they're listed at $400 or something If you're handy with a pop riveter & other basic hand tools you can build one for a small fraction of that price... If you don't want to fold it yourself, getting the folding done at a workshop shouldn't cost much more than $20-40 (or some beers?).

Thanks for that Marty. My problem is that I have never used one, only seen them on the net and without having something to copy from would probably make a mess of it Probably better to buy one first up. Cheers Dave

Well I think you have had a decent audience. Easy to build, no university degree required, not to hard to carry. So why continue. Try Fred Simms and stop bothering people. donnybrook

Nice unit. Unfortunately it appears to be out of stock at both nuggets and prospectingsupplies..... as well as being a little more than I'm happy to pay Regards Hi Bicter The "Recon" sluice that you mentioned you were looking at earlier in the thread is actually one of the AU Trap series sluices. If you go to the Angus MacKirk website angusmackirk.com/product_pages/sluices.html and take a look at their range of sluices you will see there is actually 4 models in the AU trap series. The "Scout", "Recon", "Foreman" and "Boss". All the AU Trap series sluices feature the same dual flare design and two step ramp riffles and from literally everyone I have talked to all models will produce basically identical rates of gold recovery (down to 200 mesh if I remember correctly, also keep in mind recovery rates are largely based on correct angle and flow), the only difference between the models is capacity. You start at the "Scout" and its only going to handle smaller amounts of material at once but step up to the "Boss" and as the manufacturers website says, it can handle the volume of the other 3 models all at once. I spoke to the guy from www.prospectingsupplies.com.au and he was very helpful with advice, he was saying he has an order for the Angus MacKirk stuff which he is hoping to have in the next 3 - 4 weeks (end of May-ish) so I've put in an order for one of these sluices. (two of my fellow newbie prospectors from work have also put their orders in as well), so if you are after a sluice any time soon prospectingsupplies.com.au might be your best option. Can't wait to get my sluice, my arms are killing me ;D ;D ;D Adam (elbowgrease)

Thanks Elbowgrease and all those that have provided advice. I ended going with the Angus McKirk adventurer sluice as he had very little else in stock and I'm an impatient bloke at times . Ended up paying $55 for sluice and $38.77 which was a bit of a surprise but I did ask for express post overnight delivery and it was here the next morning, prospectingsupplies were very helpful. now it's time to head out back of Drake and give it a go over the long weekend...... if anyone sees a silver BT-50 out there, drop in and explain to me how to find gold thats bigger than dust

Go out to the property known as Glendon's near Warwick, Qld and talk to Bruce (Landy) he does the training for Glendon's and he custom builds highbankers that are solid / rugged enough to take out into the bush with you and will last you a lifetime. They arent like the flimsy aluminium / ABS plastic junk that the others sell and far better value for money. They look like the photos in the heklerfabrication post. Just spent the entire day using one of his highbankers yesterday and they work great. Went crevicing with him yesterday and together we processed about 16 x 10L buckets of dirt in a day. I am now getting him to build me one I will post pictures when I get it.
