if you take the best from ctx,gpx and sdc you'll end up with gpz (except the full water proof capability) I would say no more than 7K

Well I found out the price and release date today hold on to your hats and mortgages because the new price is just short of $11000 and the products release date is the 18th of this week and on the shelf around the 2? 's .

$11000.00!!!! There is no way I would even consider buying one at that price even if I had the cash laying around burning a hole in my pocket. I love this hobby but at $11000 it's no longer a hobby. Rowdy

two very well known people in kalgoorlie bought the detectors that cost $10000 and had them for over 2 weeks and guess what they sold them yesterday they said they didnt do what they were suppose to do there noisy and they weigh a ton and they couldnt do 8 hrs a day detecting with them another couple are walking around with it and his wife is using a 5000 and shes found more pieces then him ok she may of just been more luck but who knows and before you call any of us novices you may want to consider the two that sold it have at least 15 yrs experience the husband and wife have 28 yrs experience and myself have over 33 yrs and thats working at least 8 months a yr so you make your own decision on this $10000 detector but from the people who made it they shouldnt make clams about depth if it doesn't do it do an others have anything to say bad about this detector and will you be honest and tell people you sell the machines i wounder if this post will be removed ps im a prospector not any sales rep for anyone and i use a minelab

Had a chat with Minelab trainer a couple of days ago. He has the new 7000 and for $10 g's he's not impressed, he much prefers the 5000 and SDC. Yes, it does go deeper than the 5000 but seems to miss everything above that level. Personally, for $10 grand, I'd want it to dig the holes as well.

Mate ever since the GPZ7000 came out the Minelab GPX5000 have dropped in price considerably, specially second hand ones. You may be able to pick one up for between $3000 & $4500 with extras. Look on e-bay but get serial numbers first before buying and check with Minelab. It may be stolen or Chinese fake. If you can not get a 5000 at the price you want to pay then go for a 4500. Both machines are great, and will find you GOLD. nugget893

Thanks for the info Nugget, I have been looking for a 2nd hand 5000 but they start at 4k. Where does one go to find out about obtaining a license to prospect anyway?

Hi boffin125105, Depends where in Australia you intend to prospect, in Vic you can purchase a miners right on line and print it out and your done. For the other states I'm not sure what the current regs are. Rowdy

Thanks Rowdy for the info. Does anyone have any experience with so called upgrades of GPX models so that they can go deeper as their is a Gumtree sale for supposedly doing this for $1800.
