Dear friends
I try to locate Oallen Crossing by google maps but found only the location of Oallen.
(I have found the Oallen Ford Map on the page:Upcoming Events)
Is Oallen Crossing a part of Oallen
or it is located in somewere other than the region of Oallen?
I plan to go to Oallen Crossing from Sydney. What is the best route from Sydney to Oallen Crossing?
Is there anyone can help?
In addition, thanks to Banjo520 for his approval of my request to joint this group
Regards
Albert

Albert,
This is the best group to answer you questions on finding gold in or near water. Members live in NSW as well as other states and this is NSW are best placed to help you. Where do you live?
Many of the group are camped at Oallen Ford right now, getting gold and socialising and most will return in a few days and answer any question and provide pictures also. Be patient for a few days,
regards, Eugene

G'day Albert and welcome.
The best wat to Oallen from Sydney is Down the Hume highway. A couple of Klms after the Marulan Truck Checking station you take a Left turn ( I think the sign syas Bungonia) THEN an Immediate RIGHT turn ( I think the sign says to Windellama and Nowra) When you get to the "T" intesection at the end turn LEFT. You then continue thru the little town of Windellama and continue .I think there is one more Right turn after this. ( but can't remember now, oldtimers disease lol) If you just follow the signs that say To Nowra / Oallen you will be OK. The road is good now and is mostly sealed.
You can't miss the place when you get there as the road winds steeply down and across the Shoalhaven (As in James photo). Turn left into the camp area as you come up the other side from the crossing.
Hope ya get some Gold.
I might come for a drive down tomorrow, all depend on how the leg is feeling.

G'day Albert 11
Any time is a good time to go after gold.
July is OK but it gets bitterly cold down there. You may find the water too cold to put your hands into or even Iced over in the still sections untill the middle of the day.
Even this weekend I think the troops will experience Ice on the stiller parts of the water this morning Brrrrrrr.
With Oallen there are certain times that you are better off staying away, like Easter and other Long Weekends as the place gets over run by arrogant middle aged aussies with their families riding their trail bikes and quad bikes everywhere. They are the main ones responsible for destroying the river banks and bushland down there.
There are unfortunatly a lot of very rude pigs amongst them and they think nothing of riding round and round your camp or straight thru it. As I said "PIGS"
Most normal weekend or week days are better. You never know, you may even bump into James down there.

G'day & welcome to the mad house, Albert.
Going to Oallen in July? I'm going back to Eldorado at that time, so that makes us both crazy as each other.
I just wonder whether it is possible to get 1 ounce or more of gold out there.
You bet. But you'd have to do an awful lot of digging to get it in a weekend.
Here's some figures to help you.
There's 31.1 grams in an Ounce (Troy)
If you average 1.1 grams per day you'll get the ounce in 30 days.
If you average 2.5 grams per day you'll get the ounce in 13 days.
To get an ounce in a week, you have to average 4.5 grams per day.
