From: fatgold (Original Message) Sent: 22/06/2008 5:12 PM Anyone done any panning or sluiceing on the Belubula River at this location. I'm interested to know what type of gold (chunky or fine) can be found in the area. i'm not greatly interested in amounts but rather the nature of the gold won from around the area.
cheers. From: Brownie1792 Sent: 22/06/2008 7:28 PM FatGold i've done a little panning in the Belubla not much though, from memory the gold is smooth and well travelled. I don't think there is access to the junction area due to mining leases still active there. Newcrest i think. There is a little area above the junction that is public ground although the junction its'self i'm sure is out of bounds. Cheers
From: Inferno588 Sent: 22/06/2008 8:50 PM Hi Fatgold, I learned to pan in the Belabula in the '70's around the Canowindra area fine gold some bigger peices flat and well worn, we did not have any luck around Junction Reefs, some stories about nuggets appearing on sheep tracks after rain, we found a lot of lead shot etc, and copper from electric motors, I agree with Brownie, fine, well worn. good luck.
