New to detecting and need some help- found lots of metal but none the right colour. looking to met up with some locals to get some tips and enjoy time out in the bush. Have a GPX 4500 battery charged and keen to get going.

No but I can research my maps etc, and see whats around yr area if no one gets back to you.

Hi kym what areas have you been trying ? What coil are you using ? What sort of ground are. You detecting my advice for the moment would be go to a known gold field find some shallow diggins on a fairly flat area and detect around them . I'll give you a pm when I'm going out next but wont be for a couple of weeks hope this helps in the meanwhile . Goodluck oh and take your time and detect a small area at a time and dig everything low and slow should find you some. Gold .

I forgot to mention read and study all you can on the forums and other sources about 4500 s and alluvial ground this should also help . And maybe someone else might also be able to offer you some more advice it help to point you in the right direction as I'm not an expert and only scrape up a little from time to time
