Cheers guys, most of the red/orange stones i believe are zircon and a few garnet, the blues and blue/green are sapphires and the green i believe are topaz.

The great thing about UNI is there is a nice spot to pan some gold and find some zircon/sapphire where i stay for intensive school. The down side is, that there is not enough time to fossick while iam there.

Hi shiven, a bit of research tells me your green stones are Peridot mate. My research was in this months gem and treasure magazine, lol they ran an article on it. Cheers Lenny

G'day Lenny, i said topaz before for the greens, i men't to say tourmaline. I believe they are tourmaline because of the striations on the faces. Peridot i think would more be associated with basalt areas, and you would not generally find quartz nearby i believe. There seems to be more granodiorite or granite around where these are from. Will get around to a hardness test soon.
