OK Bill, I just can't leave this one alone.
The Story of the Kelly Gang. It was first screened in Melbourne, Victoria on December 26, 1906. It was at the time the longest feature film in the world.

The first one I can think off was a bit of a mixture of film, glass slides and stills. Featured at the Melbourne Town Hall in 1900. Based on the beginnings of the Salvation Army. The film was called Soldiers of the Cross.

Either this one is too hard or no-one's interested. I'll give another day or 2 and then post the answer. Come on people, someone must know.

Well Jeff I'll put you out of your misery. But I was hoping that others may have answered the question first.
The first discovery of common opals in Australia was made near Angaston (SA) by the German geologist Johannes Menge in 1849. nugget893

Yer it sure does look like it mate. We might have been the only ones that were still awake when they were teaching us Australian History at school. Anyway it will have to be next week before I get a chance to put up another question, I'm working on a gold get away camp for the Melb Cup long weekend (this weekend)for the detector site. It will be in an burn area that the Forestry boys have just done at Amherst, right in the heart of a Goldfield. . nugget893
