Andy, not a bad looking design mate, simple but should work well. How have you got the bread crate riffles attached to your sluice? It looks like it could start floating or lifting because of the water flow, and you may start loosing gold from underneath. nugget893

I was looking at that aspect Bill. The hopper & bread crate are tapered so when the crate is pushed towards the end it wedges into place. But as a precaution I have added a small angle bracket on each side to make sure it doesn't lift at the leading edge. Since the above photos were taken I've also added brackets to the end of the top hopper & made a gate to hold back the wash for puddling before it goes through the bottom hopper. I'm also contemplating cutting a section of my favourite door mat to place in front of the bread crate. We want a full report when you return with stills and video. Yes Mick, there will be photos & video taken & posted.

Wounding how Andy is going, If it was the weekend just passed for the test run, the weather would have been, on the first day better to fry eggs and bacon in the HB, and if the storm went through, on the second day, it may have been better to get in it to stay out of the weather. No the best forecast for that area from where I saw. I am sure you did not let a small thing like the weather put you off, last trip you were sitting next to a fire keeping warm. Hope it all went well and that reverse tapper idea worked well.

Dropped in on Sunday to say G'day to Andy but there was no camp set up. May of headed into Elderado or another spot. Water was a bit higher from the storms and very dirty. Did some spot checking and crevicing for the day and had good potential.

G'day guys, I got back this afternoon.
Mushmouse, I ended up camping in the first camp past McFeeters Crossing & tested the HB in the offshoot there.
So how did it go? It worked, but I have to do a couple of small mods to it. The water flows through the bottom hopper very nicely....AND it catches the gold, even the very fine stuff. The biggest problem is going from 1 1/2" hose down to 1" hose using my 1 1/2" pump. Not getting enough water through it unless I run the pump flat out. The sluice I based it on is run with a 2" pump through 2" hose. I'll have to make another end plate where the water comes into the top hopper & have the fitting to accept the 1 1\2" hose. Not too much trouble changing that as the end plates are riveted on.
I'll put up a video on Youtube tomorrow or Thusday after I have edited it.
