So I decided yesterday the 31st March to go out panning with two of the children. Kiara was looking forward to it and Jacob came out to try and ruin the day we had planned but as the day went on he improved with his temperament. I chose a new spot.....which looked promising. Reading the signs I thought I'd try a few test pans and the result was a little unusual for this creek considering I had been there several times before and always had three or four specks or more in the pan.

I panned and panned getting two specks every time but never kept any of it because it was so small and so fine. I remembered I hadn't made an offering to the Nature Spirits and so I remember also that I had a Rose quartz tumble in my pocket which I was looking at the night before while sitting at home watching a few movies. I offered this as a gift to the creek and then looked at my daughter who was trying her best to pan while my son Jacob sat complaining. Turning over a big rock I said to my daughter baby you dig here and see what you get, she didn't even bother to use the shovel to dig and so I sieved off two shovel loads and put some of the sieved material in the pan for her. Looking into the sieve to make sure I never had a nugget in there hahaha but what I did see as clear as day was a beautiful Terminated Quartz Crystal. SHOCKED! AMAZED! Feeling good.

We stayed in this spot with not much luck and no gold to keep so we packed up and went for a ride further along to see if we could find a new spot. We drove and found a parking area further down the road and where I parked there was loads of rubbish, not a good sight and my kiddies were feeling hungry and since we never took any food only water and orange juice I decided to find a shop close by. It just so happened that I saw a Vege shop across the way so we went in and it was like a mini supermarket, we brought some chips and yogurt, fruit then went back to park up. We ate then went down for a quick look in the creek and I said to the kiddies nah lets go back to my spot where I had some luck before. We picked up all of the rubbish and I felt good to do so because looking back as we drove off it was clean.....well cleaner than it was when we got there. My spot again.

The first shovel load of material sieved produced 7 specks of gold and I was happy to see them sitting in the pan.....the second shovel load sieved produced around the same and as I dug deeper the result lessened with two or three specks.....So I moved left dug down and same result two or three specks.....Moved to the right a little where a clay layer was and the first two shovel loads sieved produced 25 specks which I and my kiddies were happy about. Kept moving right and more of the same 15 small specks and as I kept digging lesser and lesser gold. My kiddies were feeling a bit funny at that time and playing up a bit so I decided after an hour and a half digging this spot that it was time to go home. I saved all of the concentrated material which was panned down to black sand and put into a bucket, not much concentrate only about half a 14 inch pan full. My beautiful daughter checking out the clear quartz.

After we got home I decided to pan out all of the cons and a nice little collection of gold awaited me. My wife was happy, my kiddies were happy to be home again and we had a good day. The result..... Using my wedding ring as a size reference again.....will be heading back to find a new area as soon as I have done my trip to Eldorado to meet up with Andy in a few weeks time. Happy Golding everyone....

Was a great find almost as if someone had put it under that specific rock for me to find. I'll bring it with me so you can have a look at it.

That is a nice stone, I found one, not as good as yous in Reedy Creek, I did not know they were there, I gave it to a guy who was in the camp up the road, there was a heap of them and I think Hippys, if that is still a term used, so a quarts crystal spun him right out. Not being a expert on rearing children, I was thinking if you hide some of the toys from the McHappy meal, in the bottom of the pan,Jacob might re think the hobby. It seem to have work to get kids to eat what only looks like food. Good luck out there Lab

Yeah Lab it was a nice find and one I have attuned already. As for Jacob he see's the world through Angry eyes and has to learn about cause and effect which falls on deaf ears. But we continue with life hoping that one day he can see wisdom in our words, in our teachings even though he has a voice of his own and a mind that isn't able to comprehend what we say sometimes. Knowledge is one thing but wisdom is a totally different thing altogether. Cheers Arthur
