Up and running. Tested it out in the field and realized what a complete fool I am. Here's how it went.
Due to "weight" of lugging a "truck" battery around, I decided to go with a 1 inch petrol pump.
I bought the ozito 2.2hp from bunnings. Ended up with the eldorado highbanker from prospect aus.
Bilge hoses from bcf. Turns out I needed to buy a nut and tail also, for the highbanker.
After figuring out what a nut and tail is (yes I did hurt the old nut and tail in the process of this story),
well i managed to find one in bunnings. I also bought a "sherlock" garden trolley to lug the pump, highbanker,
bucket, shovel, gas can lunch, drinks etc. Tied down with a couple ocky straps.
Talk about heavy.
So I arrive there to my spot above the bank, where I had traverse 10 metres down a near 9o degree drop
(exaggerating but you get the picture). And off I go,
tumbled down the bank and the cart with gear lands on top of me.
Bruised but not defeated I then walked about 200 metres of deep rocks, fallen trees, crevices, to a water pool.
Set up, primed, and she ran lick a dream, finally. Only problem was, some idiot has cut the holes in the legs
of the sluice wrong so they don't line up. Had to put the legs on back the upside down. Still, it worked, but not as stable.
So I test panned a little ancient river bed and bang in first pan, got a little picker.
That was it, started to fill big 10 litre buckets and sluice. Found I could process about 2 or 3 large buckets for a full tank of fuel.
But I started to notice after about 7 buckets 2.5 hours of digging, I was getting build-up of bedrock and slate near the top of riffles,
I figured I had to lift the back legs a tiny bit to increase flow. After doing so, the whole riffles were cleaned out,
and I believe I may have lost quite a bit of colour in the process. After clean -up, only about 2-3 flakes.
Really disappointed with it and will resort back to crevicing and panning where Ive had much more luck.
Then I watch WalnLiz videos on you tube, am in awe of what they getting up in nsw, puts me to shame, not worthy!
Don't even ask me about how I lugged the 25 odd kilogram trolley back UP the gully and bank!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh
