Got back from Sydney early yesterday, got bored and decided to go for a drive and check out the area I want to test.
Billapaloola State Forest, NSW forestry has cleared the pines and are preparing to re-plant, someone forgot to tell them to clear the blackberries as well. Drove down a track until I reached the creek crossing, water was very high, couldn't get passed. Got out of the truck and walked about 2km along the creek. At no point could I get any closer than about 50 meters. Blackberries as far as the eye could see. Turned around and went upstream from the truck, after about 300 meters I could hear a very loud roar, was obvious there was a large waterfall hiding under the blackberries, still couldn't get any closer than 50 meters. Think that it will be an exploration excursion when the ground has dried out a bit and the water returns to normal levels, at least that way I'll be able to walk down the actual creek bed and test all the way. We ended up driving along the forestry tracks that follow the creek for about 15km, it was all solid blackberries. If I was a farmer and had those bloody things on my land, Dept Agriculture would be issuing me with some hefty fines. Not sure why Forestry doesn't poison them when they clear the land and re-poison them before they re-plant.
Oh well, next time.
