Hi all, since joining this forum I have gone on 2 x 2 week fossicking trips, resulting in much iron scrap, bullets, and 1 leaf gold nugget.
First trip to Flat Creek near Georgetown in October with 1 companion and helped by use of a 4x4 quad. HOT, half days the norm, no gold. The quad was fantastic for access to areas out of walking range, but we still didn't walk over any gold when stopped to detect.
Second trip to Western Creek in early May. Same companion but no quad. Companion (gpx5000) found 3 small nuggets over the time (4 gm total). I found 1 leaf gold nugget(my first nugget 1.14 gm) in a patch of steel shards near a worked area. The haul of scrap was just as plentiful, so the detectors were still working, we were just not walking over where the gold was.
Both trips were enjoyable, and planning for the next needs to start soon. Where to? Palmer area and Gold Hill are both closer and beckon. The Wenlock has yielded gold previously but is a long way over mostly gravel roads. Decisions!
Cheers cwturner

Great to hear you are getting out and enjoying yourself. Nice to hear you found some gold.
Look forward to hearing how the next trip goes.
Happy Hunting.
