During my research in prep for tomorrow's trip, I came across this place. I've been to Sovereign Hill in Victoria at Ballarat, this place sounds similar. History Hill is the largest privately owned gold rush collection on display in Australia. History Hill’s collection focuses on the land, the time and the people of Australia’s Gold Rush era. historyhill.com.au/Has anyone here been there before?

Enjoy Hill End while you can as State Parks NSW are slowly but surely knocking down the old buildings. As soon as a property go's up for sale there Parks buys it at the reserve price. They are trying to bring that area back to natural bush. Why I don't know Hill End supposed to be under the National Trust. It is legalized vandalism by Parks. If you ever get a chance to go there ask the locals what is really happening, they'll tell you. nugget893

The place is so amazing and I didn't even get a chance to see it all. It's a damn shame.

Went there again this year for the NAPFA AGM meeting.. what a great place Hillend is.. a lot of history, would need to spend a few months there to get to know the area. as what Bill has said. Yep, going by what the town people tell us.. slowly the town is being put back as bush.. the old buildings get torn down! There goes the history!!!! It will be a real shame. P.s great little country pub.
