Anyone remember about 12 years ago there was quite a bit of advertising on forums for carbon filled devices that were supposed to trap fine and dissolved gold that was being washed down rivers and also in sea water. All one had to do was find a location set the devise up and come back a few weeks later and collect all the gold.
Can anyone remember any other get rich quick schemes or devises that were marketed in by gone years. Rowdy

Now that you mention divining rods I had an uncle who used to use them to find water on his property. I watched him one day and he said there is water here and then the rods started to bounce up and down slightly and he counted the number of times they bounced then declared that the water was so many feet (I can't remember how many he said) deep. We also hid a large safety pin in his homestead back yard and he did find it. In later years before he died and the town water pipeline was put in past his property I took note that he has it connected to his farm.
At the time I was only about 10 years old so it would have been pretty easy to pull the wool over my eyes. I've always been a skeptic in regards to divining even though I saw that demonstration all those years ago. Rowdy
