Hi Everyone
My name is Rabs and new to the forum but have been sluicing, panning, for a long time, did a bit of detectng with an old 18000 minelab without success, love everything gold hunting and being in the aussie bush. I'm well set up with 4x4 and camper trailer, shower, toilet etc etc. Into GPS and maps etc with laptop and have pretty much all of oz covered with topo maps, goldfields etc. Nothing better than a good campoven dinner and a few cleansing ales around the campfire. like to chat and i like to think i'm pretty social and easy going. love areas like hill end, windeyer and sofala. have got some gold in my travels and the bug never stops, so I hope thru this forum I might meet some like minded people and get some trips happening. I live in Newcastle so I dont have local areas to go gold hunting, damn you victorians ;D
Cheers
Rabs

G'day Rabs, and welcome to the forums and thanks for an informative introduction. You will fit in just perfect. We have quite a few members from the central coast. We have just recently had a very enjoyable group weekend away at Hill End and by the comments from those who went and those who couldn't we will be there again before too long. Any question you have, ask away Cheers Ric

Hi Rabs, and welcome to the Mad House. There are a lot of good people in here with loads of collective knowledge they are happy to share. With those credentials you will fit in perfect. Hi Rabs , it's good to see yet another member from Newcastle . We might have to take over the site . RonIf ever that happens it will be a case of the lunatics taking over the asylum! Cheers Mrs Fly

Thanks for all the replies, Nice to see us novacastrians taking over the world. Ive found that once you find a bit of gold it becomes a passion, everytime I look at my small amount of gold I just wanna get out there. My goal is to get to Dunolly and surrounds and do some serious detecting. Havent checked my lotto ticket yet so I could be on my way ;D..If anyone wants info on topo maps for Vic gold fields calibrated for Ozi Explorer let me know, cheers and thanks again and we will chat soon

Hi rabs, when do you plan on going to Dunolly to detect ? I have 2200 d and tried Tennant Creek for a couple of weeks but no joy. I am a newbie at detecting , but would travel to have another go. I am based in S.A. or Wimmera Vic. Cheers Mike.

Hey Hunter
Not sure when I'm going but have all the spots I'd like to try, mainly picking the spots off the geo maps i've got and loading into Ozi Explorer, mainly over the leads and some gullies that have been mentioned on different forums, I can load them into my GPS and at least know that I'm over them, I'm a newbie and this has been done probably a thousand times so some may be laughing quitly but at least I have a plan and have done heaps of research, If I don't find any it won't be because of the lack of trying. Ive got a work mate that has family in tarnagulla who owns 100's of acres and stopped anyone detectecting years ago due to beer bottles and rubbish left behind. hopefully I'm going to get permission to go on and camp so here's hoping. Ive also got some mud maps given to me for an area in Dunolly to try so I'm also currently plotting them into Ozi, trouble is I don't know how to use any of the SD detectors and have only used XT17000 before so I'm hoping to get some tuition so I don't waste all my efforts.
Talk soon
Rabs
