G,day, Another newbie. I'm a small earthworks contractor in Perth and have started to get the detecting itch...again. I last used Whites almost 30 years ago in the WA eastern & murchison goldfields. It was fantastic for finding .303 cartridges and hob-nail boot tacks My nearest thing to a big find was camping near what is now Murrin Murrin and a couple of weeks after we were there a guy found a huge nugget in a rabbit warren about 200 yards from our camp......I think I shot some bunnies for the pot there. Anyway, looks like there is a lot of new technology out there to confuzzle the novice so I have been poking around the net reading this and that. I can lay my hands on a Eureka Gold for a grand but its been a really tough year in business so its not like we have money to burn. Regards from Perth

Squizzy, "Welcome to the site !!" Yes, I also use to hire out a Whites detector about 30yrs ago. They were the top of the range then. But as you said, " a lot of technology out there now", so my suggestion would be if you can not buy the top of the range detector Minelab 4500 try and go for a good second hand GP3000 or a 3500 from Minelab. You can pick these up for between $2500 and $3000 and they are up there with really good technology. I use a 3000 and I'm quite happy with mine, but saying that I am slowly saving up for a 4500. Hoping to get one cheap when the 5000 comes out, but when, who's knows?' But mate if the members can help you in any way in regards to golding just ask.
Cheers Nugget893

Welcome Squizzy, I have been over that way a coupla times but for prospecting, just visiting the outlaws. Did a bit of beach detecting around Port Hedland and didn't do too bad either. Anyway, cheers and HH BradW (aushunter)
