Welcome to the nut house Goldenbudz. My two bob's worth: Get to know your machine - practice whenever you can, around the back yard, in the local park, local school etc. Experiment with settings. Swing low and slow...... don't thrash it around like you are slashing grass. It takes time, you may not be doing anything wrong other than being impatient. We all have to pick up our fair share of junk while out enjoying the bush. If finding nuggets were that easy, we'd all be giving up our day jobs. Happy Hunting Cheers Mrs Fly

Welcome aboard GB They are a great mob here on AGP. Even get into building your own sluice/banjo as you will have just as much fun digging in the creeks. Gold is gold no matter. Good luck on your hunts and we expect some good piccy's for show and tell ;D Brad....

G'day Goldenbubz and welcome. It sounds like you are using your machine OK as you are finding bird shot ext. Lead sounds almost the same as gold and you would be mad not to dig it up. If you have been reading the Beaufort thread you will see that we are finding more rubbish than gold and we have been doing this hobby for many, more years than I can remember ( started about 1978) It is all in the chase as they say. The next target could be a 2oz nugget. But as Mrs Fly said "if finding gold were that easy,we'd all be giving up our day job. How true. But keep at it as experience is the best teacher also is research. Cheers and welcome again Nugget893

Thanks guys you have all been great help have had a few more experiances just got back from Newsted just out side of mayborough if you dont know where it is and had a great discovery i got a really weak signal so i thought i might investigate as i dug deeper the signal went haywire WOW i thought. what is it??? i dug deeper and tried it again it came up with metal too close lift search coil I thought what is this by this time i was about 2 feet deep.I was stuffed my old man came ova after noticing me digging the same spot for about an hour. i was nearly a meter deep and still a strong signal I instantly thought welcome stranger ;D we dug a bit deeper then BANG we hit something by this time it was 37 degrees and we had sweat pooring of us we thought we struck it rich after clearing the dirt away we found a box of somesorts it was big but we didnt dig it all out otherwise we would still be there.. I broke the mash hammer we had on us trying to get into it then crack we got in.. move whats in there i had to look and to my surprise i was gob smacked it was full of orange sand bugger but after all of that and the fact that it was a meter deep i now know the whites works and i cant wait to go again hopefully very soon we try and get up there every couple of weeks so anyone wanna come and have a laugh and a good time let me know allways looking for more people and experiance
