Hi all, what an awesome forum you have here. I arrived here after a recommendation from a poster on another forum and I'm glad to see that prospecting is alive and well on the internets. I must say Ive never been out looking for gold, I dont have a detector but I reckon I may have caught a dose of GAD. Ill be surfing the web looking at different gold related pages then realise i have over 40 tabs open in three browser windows I desperately need an activity that will burn some calories and have always loved outdoors and camping so I will look in the near future to setting myself up with a detector and camping vehicle and gear, nothing too fancy of course. Then its a matter of convincing the better half to come with me. Maybe she will be more appreciative of it when I find a few nuggets first. Ill be asking your advice as I set myself up and look forward to sharing adventures in the future. Chat you soon, Potluck.

Welcome to the forum Potluck. What area are you from as we may have some members fairly close to you. You may not become rich with gold from this activity but the friends you make out in the fields usually make up for it. Don't be afraid to ask any questions as you won't ever know if you don't ask. G'day Potluck & welcome.
You don't need much more of a vehicle than what can carry your camping & prospecting gear, so don't go lashing out on a you beaut 4x4 just yet unless you plan on visiting the WA deserts etc.
Most goldfields can be traversed relatively easy with a family type car, unless it's been raining very heavily in the area. I've only got a VR Berlina wagon & I can easily get that around 99+% of the Golden Triangle or North East Victoria in the dry or after medium heavy rain, & about 90 to 95% if those areas have had a heavy sustained downpour.

G'day mate and welcome to the best gold site on the net. There will be at least someone on this site that can answer most questions that you may have, or if not we will be able to direct you in the right direction. As what Rowdy asked, what area do you come from? That may help in the questions that you may be asking.
Cheers Potluck and welcome again Nugget893

Thanks for the kind welcome's. Im based in Adelaide which has 3 areas up in the hills where prospecting is allowed. Jupiter's Creek Diggings, Chapel Hill and Mount Crawford Forest. Theyre close enough for me to visit hopefully this or next weekend.
