From: billycampoven1 (Original Message) Sent: 24/03/2008 6:45 PM Hi All We are currently trying to ressurrect the Australian Goldpanning Association (AGPA) that fell apart after the World Championships were held in Maryborough in 2001. Currently the 4 people keeping it going are: Gerry Tobin (Ballarat), Henry and Anne Doran (Vic) and Kim Hillier (QLD). The reason: why we need a National Association are: Communication and promotion of events. Provide standard guidelines and rules for running goldpanning events Provide representation on the World Goldpanning Association Assess proposals for local Australian prospecting clubs to hold the world championships. Run the Australian Champs Original the 4 of us envisioned the national organising body would consist of a couple of representatives from the relevant states: VIC, NSW, TAS, QLD, WA, and even NT and NZ! But now I think it would be who ever is interested! It wouldn't involve a lot of work to be an office bearer or rep. Just a couple of phone hooks ups or chat room chats each year - the details need to be worked out. Running of events is left to the local clubs. If you are interested, let me know I will let you know about our forthcoming on-line meeting.
