O.K as a new member of this forum I was surprised to find very few post on where to look before you go and find. (aka researching) For e.g this category alluvialgprospectors.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gemmaps has some of the fewest post I've come across, now don't get me wrong as far as forums go it is A+ in my book the guys & gals on this forum are very good at teaching you how to get the yellow stuff out of the dirt, water, rock ect... A few people have mentioned google earth over the YEARS of posting and DIGS only on one visit that I have found any thing good there. But if you are still reading this post I have one of the best links ever to "Australian Mines Atlas" not just mines but also mineral deposits Don't plan your next trip without clicking here first www.australianminesatlas.gov.au/?site=atlas P.S very easy to use click on the right to open a folder e.g mineral deposit then choose your mineral of choice mmmm lets say gold! then narrow you field of search by clicking on the map you can also view your location of interest in the ever help full Google earth by clicking the blue earth button on top of the map. Enjoy, bert.

Thanks Bert I have just spent a very profitable hour using this, it has opened quite a few possible sites that I did not know existed.

Hi People. Here is another great site to checkout for NSW prospectors. It doesn't give exact mineral locations but does show Crown land, exploration leases, mining leases, land subject to Aboriginal Land claims, and lots of other stuff. www.minerals.nsw.gov.au/tasmap/Jeff

Excellent Pol. Looks just like the Victorian version of TasMap. Very detailed and easy to use. Thanks for the post.
