G,day, Does anyone have any thoughts, plans, ideas on building such a thing.Having built a banjo that is capable of fine gold recovery i am now looking to expand on this and want to build a vibrating classifier for -8 mesh gold. This is to pre-classify before going through the sluice.Has anyone done this? Is it worthwhile? Cheers John

G,day Rod,this is not to attach to the banjo at all, separate piece of kit altogether, basically all i'm after is some rough plans on a stand alone powered shaker classifier thingy, from there i will shovel it through the banjo, which will be situated on a creek quite a distance from where i'll be digging. It might lessen by a fair bit the amount of trips i make.i'd like to power it with a 12v motor. Cheers John

If you have standard sized classifiers like Keene makes, you can cut a hole in a piece of metal to fit and just drop them in. Stacked one above the other different sizes can be processed at one time. Metal transmits vibration better than wood although it will work also. You also need to make some legs and have an electrical source (generator). A cheap oscillating hand sander is used to provide vibration. When properly built these units can process alot of material fast. I have used 12 v vibration motors also, but they are not as powerful but do work.

G'day, I hadn't thought about it before...good idea.
Would be so easy to make, would work like a screen at a quarry or mine, any good 12v motor would be ok to power the unit, for the vibration you just need to make sure that the thing is out of balance.

Check this one out. We use it in the desert and on the creek. Very solid machine and portable. We can classify a 5 gallon bucket in 3-5 minutes. www.bbrmfg.com

I guess I should clarify: 1/2 and 1/4 inch in 3-5 minutes, 30 and 100 mesh takes a bit longer. www.bbrmfg.com
