G,day Grandpa, I would be interested in what you have come up with in relation to catching fine gold,i have not long finished building a banjo using expanded mesh as the riffle system but if there is a better way. Cheers John

Hi John,
Catch trays are certainly a big benefit. Firstly they offer quick access to your sluice to check on your gold takings and secondly they catch the bulk of your gold.
On my sluice I estimate my catch tray catches 70 to 80 percent of my gold, with floor matting and riffles catching the rest. This includes fine gold from fields such as Eldorado.
I am planning a new sluice with twin catch trays, with a set if riffles to catch the rest.

Yes Baz, serious stuff alright, and you are dead right with the VMD&PA ;D Grandpa yeah spose I'd never really put much thought into it till now and yes serious stuff indeed grandpa ...6 years a'ya blood sweat N tears there gotta be good an gotta be protected ...VMD&PA that was a lucky guess I never heard of'em will google cheers Baz
