Kimmy the best thing to use for the rubber is one cut out of a thong, ya get a few from one thong too,, works better than the one you buy

I have used a round piece of rubber cut to size with washers either side and a nut attaching it to the plunger handle. You can tighten the nut to squeeze the rubber out more for a better seal when needed. Hope this helps

Some interesting solutions to the one problem ;D First time i've heard of any type of thong being anything but impractical and uncomfortable out in the field ;D ;D Kimmy

Ha rustydog what rubber hose did you use, as it would be better than the fiting I used. a bit to tite All i use was 2 short pieces of radiator hose as there is a size difference from the outer edge of the bait pump to the pvc pipe , could not get pvc pipe the same size

BINGO a carbon copy of mine
I have the small tube rising up to the position of pump washer to act as a spigot and trap the fines in the removable head. Has worked on occasions for cracks where we got the last bit out.
Usually heavy pumping with the normal large aperture of the pump flushes everthing out.
