I've been looking around and the US Prospectors G1 looks interesting due to it's light weight and claimed effectiveness. Does anyone have any experience with one and if so, how does it rate? I have the skills but not the tools or facilities to build my own at the moment so will probably have to purchase one to get started. Any thoughts greatly appreciated Cheers

G'day Chimpy and welcome to the forum. From what I have read including reports from people who are using the G1 it is a very good unit. It might be a bit expensive ounce you factor shipping costs in but still looks a top bit of gear. Here is one report I have read on the G1 by a happy user. gpex.ca/smf/index.php?topic=5120.0Grandpa, Here is a link to the G1 www.usprospector.com/index.php/buynowCheers Ric

Hi Chimpy,
Mr Fly built me a highbanker a couple of years ago, based on the G1 design, although I got him to do a few modifications so it was to my liking and to handle the type of dirt I dig in......lots of clay patches.
It's made of aluminum, very light weight but sturdy and comes apart for easy packing. I keep meaning to take a video of it in action, but the digging for gold gets me side-tracked.
Cheers Mrs Fly

Hmmm... shipping quote of $400 almost doubles the cost of the unit and puts an end to that. I just shipped 4 4wd tyres from the states for $350 and they weighed 74kg so I don't know why a 12kg highbanker is so expensive? So it's either put the idea on hold until I find the time to build one (3 young sprogs and 12 hour shifts keep me busy) or go for something like a prospectors choice 2 tier and make some mods.
Cheers Chimpy
