I got this Message from Jeffu yesterday

Hi Bill.
Don't know if you are aware of this. Below is an email sent to me from the Australian Lapidary Forum. If this goes ahead it is going to set a precedent for all fossicking/prospecting in NSW and possible Australia wide.
It has come to our attention that Glen Innes Severn Council will decide on closing the Wellingrove Fossicking Reserve on Thursday morning - the recommendation is for closure so if fossickers want this site to remain open, you need to register your opinion right NOW.
I believe this is an example of a bigger issue regarding access for fossicking generally so even if you do not visit the Glen Innes area, you can still offer your opinion. If you think these types of decisions should at least have some consultation with those who use the facility/service, I suggest you let us know.
There is only a 24 hour window of opportunity to have this decision reversed or at least delayed. If no-one bothers to speak up, then council can legitimately say there was no opposition to the plan. If this occurs, fossickers will have no right to complain so now is the time to speak up and be heard.
You can post your opinion (for or against) on ALF here:
aussiesapphire.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=1773
or directly email council (we suggest you do both).
cheers Andrew and Leah Lane (Aussie Sapphire)

Maybe you can send it to all the admin people and see if we are able to do anything.
We must try and stop this from happening as if this go's a head who know what next areas may be closed, it could be Hill End, Orhir?
