Hi all, was wondering if anyone new of any spots around proserpine, bowen area to do a spot of detecting, i have tried to google and really found nothing, bar a mine in dittmar which i went and had a look at the area and it did not look to me as being a good spot, also took a drive out to gold creek, off alluvial rd, yes thats right, must be good spot hey lol. From what i have read it is pretty much a waste of time detecting in the wrong areas and these did not seem to my untrained eye (again from what i have read, pepper and salt and all that stuff) to be good spots, however i did run my detector through gold creek, could not help myself. Cheers

Hi As far as indicators go in that area I have been told that there is very little qtz & ironstone, the main indicator is the volcanic rock & contact with granite, do some research on the Mt Hector area, there is mention of elluvial & alluvial Gold in that area, from what I have found it is fairly rough country ( to me means not to much attention), There is a guy on this forum "Goldbait" who is from Airlie Beach, get onto him he may be looking for buddy. PM me your email & I will send you the info I have from the mines dept, Goldbait has this info I sent it to him so have a chat to him. cheers Lee

Depends on how far you want to drive. That river that runs past Finch Hatton is apparently good for fossicking. Try searching Bonzle maps and QDEX.
