Hi percaf. Well done Percaf, good research. It is an excellent read. The studies done by Prof Poling of the Uni of British Columbia and Randy Clarkson where part of my studies when I was at Uni. Riffle design, water flow and the type of matting are critical points in the design and operation of a sluice. However, with a lot of the smaller highbankers that are out in the field today, most of the studies finding have little significance. It is only when your highbanker is capable of processing more than a cubic meter of material per hour do those findings play a crucial role in sluice design. Properly designed catch trays are a part of small volume highbankers these days and almost eliminate the need for matting and riffles.
I told my doctor about my bad memory and he made me pay in advance.
Yep, its a great read - Ric posted it in the AGP PDF section a while ago - thanks for bringing it to the front:
This report was produced for the Klondike Placer Mines Association.
It contains valuable information on riffle design and general sluice design. Explaining how and why some designs perform better than others. This report has been posted on our Yahoo pages for a few years so I thought I would include a link here.
Definitely an interesting read. im about 2 start the build of my new set up, which will be a multi purpose unit. also going 2 try some different matting.
Yep, If you have a look through the links in the "MAPS, EXPLORATION REPORTS, RESEARCH" etc section and also in our Yahoo information pages There are a lot more similar links and files.
I will be adding quite a few more files and links over the next few weeks so stay tuned.
Cheers Ric
Everyone has a photographic memory, some just don't have film.
