Hey Joe, nah mate, nothing like that...
I was only told about it & had a quick drawing of it made for me...
I'll try & draw a picture or make something up later. It's a very simple bucket/drum thing that was described to me. About the size of a 60L drum or might have even been a 44Gal drum. Top cut off. Sitting in a basic frame on it's side.- tilted at an angle(maybe 20Degrees off horizontal?). A water inlet was fitted to the side of the drum close to the bottom & on an angle so the water would start a swirl when pumped in. Then all that was done was start feeding unclassified gravel & rocks into this - just keep shoveling & shoveling. The water would keep the gravel fluidised and excess water, anything big or lightest would just pour off the front edge of the drum & onto the ground. Any heavies would remain in the very bottom of the drum. after a few hours, they would empty the drum, classify the contents & pan it off. I was told it was quite successful & it was great for breaking up clay, mud, washing weeds etc.
I got some drums here. Might have a play later...

Hi Marty, I thought that’s what you’ve mentioned yesterday but still scratching my head with “unclassified gravel & rocks into this” only because if it was classified material I understand the water pressure’s job with viscosity and density (heavies and lights fluid bed) my thoughts after seeing few home designs. will have to see your invention --- I’m saving my (drum, bucket, bin) for the last release as I only have one I have seen some more RAM pumps (pulsating) in a fluid bed scenario where the lights are pushed out by the pulsating effect. How are you getting on with the paper design?

Sounds like how a portable cement mixer operates. Softie Softie3 a small cement mixer without the motor but stirred with the water jet same motion? nice hmm i'll leave the motor in .. Would this be allowed or is it too mechanical?

...will have to see your invention... ...How are you getting on with the paper design? Not my invention at all I was told about this thing on Thursday night after a PMAV meeting - someone there had seen someone using this thing I described & they drew me up what it looked like... I thought it easier to bung up a picture of what was described to me. The bit of pipe(water inlet/jet) is only bluetacked on to get the idea of things. haven't had time to do this properly today. As you can see not much to it... No idea if it would work but was told it does. Maybe if an even less an angle is used? It could work I guess

Can it be that easy? Seems that there is something missing? Or my imagination needs few more glasses of wine. Are you going to test this one day Marty? I love simple things. and hope it works..

That's how it was described & drawn for me & was told this dude was using it & wasn't loosing any gold. He initially had all of the waste(exiting material) running thru a sluice, but stopped doing that coz nothing ended up in it. Any gold that he had dug up, stayed in the bottom of the drum. I supose it would take a bit to pan all that off, but if you ran it thru the usual sieves etc. first, it mightened be so bad. Yeah, I'll be trying it. Nothing to lose. Worst case scenario is that I'll have an other fire drum ;D
