Would you support the reintroduction of a Miners Right or Fossicking Licence in NSW ?
My thought is for this to be implemented similar to the NSW Fishing Licence. That is that all monies are held in a trust which is used to directly promote and support recreational fishing and to be administered by an elected committee consisting of a mix of Govt, Industry and Recreational prospecting members.
This is just my very brief idea of how it could be run.
I encourage members to put forward their ideas and would also like to encourage some good open but civil discussion.

I would most definatly support something like this if all said moneys were going back into the hobby and not into some government bodys pockets

We pay the state forestry $28-00 a year to fossick but we need some basic rights to use our equipment;sluices, detectors, highbankers. Ric's idea is good. Has anyone approached other outdoor parties??? donnybrook

As most of you know that I live in Vic but I voted "YES". We pay for our "Miners Right" about $30.00 for 2 years, or $89.00 for 10 years. I also pay $30.00 per year to the PMAV (pension rate) just so I have the privilege for prospecting in most State Forests of Vic. Money well spent in my books. NSW you need something similar.

Would definitely support a reintroduction of a NSW miners right if the monies raised went back into the hobby.BUT it is always a two way trade off and i would like to be sure that our hobby would be safe-guarded in what we can use and where and the money just not used to police harmless people going about their hobby.

Please get behind this. We have supported others in different states and this one is important to us all. Its just a start and if you think it is a reasonable poll and want to continue being able to participate in your hobby then support it. Lots of things changes are being proposed all throughout Australia. We have a right. donnybrook

AS I live in TAS and we only have Prospectors Licence to contend at $14 a year I still cast my vote as a YES as I think they are a good idea

I already have a fishing license, which I don't mind paying for. If it opens up new grounds to explore - I would pay. It's a wonder those in power haven't brought this up themselves......think of all the $$$'s they're losing.

Hi Ric, I would support the future “Australian Prospecting Society” with well structured Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct that would benefit all members in recreational activities, development, support, networking, rewards, recognition and that can influence a political party in making fair policies.
I don’t see how introducing licensing can have any benefits/value to a prospector. Rules are already established and this would be another gov. revenue raising/policing and misusing of funds. There has to be a separation between “miner” and a “prospector” in your poll as they are governed by two separate laws.
Cheers, Joe
