Went to my first Canberra Lapidary Club meeting last night. Girts Ozols held a "show & tell" discussion on Fossilized/petrified wood. Never realised that fossil wood could look so good. Some of the samples on display were fascinating especially the fossilized ferns. The colours and patterns were amazing. Looking forward to the next meeting, hopefully I'll learn something. Jeff

I got a 20liter bucket full of petrified wood and coproplites when out Milparinka last, loads of it out there. Let me know if you would like some to practice on, wouldn't recommend tumbling the coproplites may be smelly Diggerdude

Ian, some of the samples they had on display came from Kangaroo Valley. Very different to what comes from W.A. Apparently Kangaroo Valleys was covered by volcanic ash and lava and the WA stuff was covered by silicon sand.
