G'day all from Gowrie Junction near Toowoomba near Brisbane. Whew. That's a lot of nears. Nearly worn out already. My name is Greg and have mucked around with the idea of prospecting ( making my fortune ) for some years but a mate mentioned he used to prospect up north with his dad so that has got me interested all over again. As a father son thing a few years ago when my boy was 10 ish, we decided to make a recirculating slieuce, sluce, slewce, damn, one of those things that does most of the hard work for you.... and went out to Glendon camp ground near Warwick, Queensland for the day with a mate of his. No color apart from our sunburn but a great day just the same. Fast forward to 2012 and we are ready to have another go with lots of new information from the interweb. ;D My boy is 7 years older and I feel 20 years older but still active enough to have a go at something new so drag the sluice from under the house, dust it off and clean out the mat and screen from all those years ago. Just ordered a turbopan and found some great ideas like practicing in the back yard with some pieces of lead before heading out. Would love to catch up with some old timers from the Toowoomba area for a day out and some invaluable experience and advice. Greg

Hi Greg, I have just joined the fourum, and you a long way from here, I think you have gold feilds close to you. I saw your comement re the lead. I built my wet sluice and had no gravel like dirt at all, only sand, so I cut open a 12g shell and put 10 pellets in with what ever I run through, and at the end of the run if I got 10 back I asume I am getting close. First I hit them with a hammer so there a bit flatter, but now I leve them round, I is more of a chalange to find them all. Good luck on the feild Labrador
