Hi everyone, I have been bitten by the bug. I am a photographer from Sydney, and can't wait to get out into the field. I am wanting some advice on a machine that will do well in the field for gold, AND on the beach.

Hi Dapperdan, Welcome to the group. Sorry, I can't help you with beepers but there's plenty of detectorists here who can. I do know there are plenty of great photography subjects out in the Goldfields and old goldrush towns. Cheers Ric

Hi Dapperdan and welcome to the forum. You are wanting to know about a good all-round detector for both the goldfields and beaches. There are many different machines on the market at various prices. Some machines specialises in coin and relic hunting and others specialise in mainly using in the goldfields and the highly mineralised ground that is found there. You have to ask your self first "Am I mainly be going after gold or coin & relics. Secondly what price do I want to pay. Thirdly do I want to buy "New" or "Second hand". Machines very in price ranges from a few hundred dollars to many thousands of dollars. What I suggest is to look at the Minelab Detectors they are Australian made for Australian conditions and about one of the best in the world. They have all types of detectors for all type of jobs at various price ranges, from the beginners to the professional. Here is a web site to look at and they have all types of detectors with prices. There are dealer all over Australia that sell them. Try Miners Den www.minersden.com.au/minelab-metal-detectors/nugget893
