Well a big hello to y'all. I'm about the 6th new member this month - maybe the Aldi detectors have whet the appetites of a few! Currently I am focusing on the relic/coin side of things because, well let's face it, in Brisbane there's not much in the way of nuggets around (although I am researching heaps about everywhere around me at the moment. I have a Minelab Exterra 705 and a Discriminator detector, and so far have found a few interesting things but am just enjoying being out and swinging the thing. Kinda like fishing except I catch more with a detector than with a rod. Me and a couple of friends have been going out deep bush into a few virgin territories and have come up with some interesting finds that have yet to be perfectly identified. Wouldn't mind eventually catching up with other detectorists from around Brisbane for family days and fossicking. Cheers, Juz.

G'day Juz & welcome to the forum. As I live in Victoria I have no idea where you could go near Brisbane, but hopefully someone who lives up your way will post some info here for you.

Welcome Juz to the AGP Enjoy the site mate and have a good look around there is plenty to read and to absorb. Any of your finds that you are not sure about and would like them to be identified, take some photos and stick them up on the site and we'll see if we can help. nugget893

One of the 3 guys I was with found a rock that made his detector go off big time, and since we are all relatively new at this we broke it open to see what it was. There is a lot of crystal-like shapes and gold coloured grains running through it, but to me the gold looks too 'green' - more like Pyrite. A guy from a detector shop looked at it and "tested" it with his rare earth magnet, and much to his surprise and bewilderment it was not magnetic. We are going out again this week-end to see if we can find more in the same spot. Cheers for the welcome too btw. Juz

Hi Juz, If it had a green tinge to it it maybe a native copper specimen. Rowdy
