hey everyone I'm new to this after watching to much gold rush I think I got the bug , does anyone know of anywhere around Melbourne way give or take a few hundred K's I could sluice a bit of gold from?? or just some good tips would be great, cheers

G'day & welcome to the forum. You say give or take a few hundred kms from Melbourne? Ok then, for a bit less than that I'd have to suggest Reedy Creek between Beechworth & Eldorado in the north east of the state.

Yes, with a sluice. With a sluice you can process approximately 8 times the amount of wash in any given time compared to panning. Reedy Creek is great as you can use either a river sluice and/or a highbanker along lots of it's length. In a lot of others it's easiest to just use a river sluice.
