As per the title, please share with the members where & when you first found gold.
There's no need to state how you got it, just the when & where is important.
Mine was in 1991 in an old timers miners tailing dump around Kingower in Victoria.
When & where did you find yours?

Found my first gold in a small creek near Tumbarumba. It was 1959 and I was 8. My father took me panning in the Manus Creek, a few k's south of Tumba. I think somewhere I still have those first few flakes. It got into my blood way back then and has never left.

My first few specs were only found about 3 years ago, so 2011 i think. Panned half the day away at Oallen ford for a dozen specs but were over the moon to have found gold. Then Jeffu introduced us to a highbanker and it was all over from there

very first gold was in oaky creek at Wattle flat north of Bathurst in about 1955 under the guidance of an elderly experienced fossicker. We planned to work for four days but it snowed early on the fourth day and was too cold to stay. However our efforts over the three days produced 68 quids worth of gold which was real wages back then. Have not found anything like it since then but the thrill has stayed with me. First gold on my own was near a village called Ballimore about 15 ks north east of Dubbo where I found four match head sized smooth bits in a crack in sandstone. What a thrill. It set me off on a search lasting several weeks in the immediate and nearby area but dissapointingly I could not find another speck anywhere.
Still looking occasionally and ever hopefull. Regards to all, MAC

Did a drive to Yack Creek - Allans Flat about 15 years ago to with partner to have a pan ( my parents were long time prospectors )We got about 5 specs each. He was hooked. I was bit dismayed with the lack of stream tin which I recall being a good indicator with what the 'rents brought home. Went to Reedy the following weekend and he cleaned out a small crevice. Tin, gems and around 100 specs of gold. Never did go back to Yack.

I was deer stalking with my farther at Omeo around 1965, and to pass some of the time we would wash some gravel, I remember seeing specks of gold, and have always wanted to be a fosicker,I never seem to have enough time to go as often as I would like to, I would estimate I have about 1/8th of a ounce saved up from way back then.

I found my first piece of gold in a creek near Melton when I was 11 years old, I didn't know it was gold then, and I can still see it skipping across the water 5 skips before it sank to the bottom. I reckon it will still be there but the land has probably been developed by now. It was the size of my palm (11 year old boys palm0 and about 1/4 inch thick wish I had known back then what I know today.
cheers mikzz
