This one is inspired by a friend who eats this just about every night. I personally think it tasted disgusting when I tried it, so if you don't like it, don't blame me for trying it. Drain 1 large tin of 4 bean mix & put on plate. You could substitute 5 bean mix if you want. Drain 1 large tin of corn kernels & put on top of beans. Optional: 1 medium size tin of peas instead of corn. Add a handful of unsalted peanuts. Optional: Add 1 tin of flavoured tuna. The small John West "Tempters Tuna" or generic equivalent. That's it, mix it all together & eat it. You can vary the flavour each night by using a different flavour tuna. The only good thing I can say about this is, you can take enough ingredients out in the bush to last as long as you want, because none of them need refrigeration. And there's no cooking involved. Bon appetit.

As much as I am partial to a small serve of 3 or 4 bean mix I think I'd be struggling with that I think I'd eat each component separately as in a salad. In saying that tinned food is a good option if you don't have to carry it to far. Sardines are very healthy and you will always find dozens of old tins around old timer prospectors camps. I have lived on nothing but Sardines, Damper and Tea with a couple of treats of rehydrated dried peas and some Territory Beef Jerky on one camp trip. With the amount of smaller tins of things like Tuna, Salmon and Chicken its easy to take a good variety without weighing you down too much

Same here Ric. Camping with or without the caravan I always have sardines, tuna & 2 minute noodles in the tuckerbox. Surprisingly enough this bloke is not fat considering the amount he eats. Must have hollow legs. Just last week I saw him eating a meal of rice, corn, peas & tuna. Not out of a desert or cereal bowl, but a mixing bowl like the kind you mix cake batter in. That would have been about 3 1/2 meals for me & he ate it in one.
And someone else in town with hollow legs is Phil Brock (yes, that's the late Peter Brocks brother). FGS, you should see the amount of food he scoffs at afternoon tea at the Men's Shed every Tuesday & Thursday. Eats enough for 3 people, party pies, cake, biscuits, doesn't matter. He's 6' 6" & thin as a rake.

I to have seen some rough cooks and strange ways, but the result is you go to bed with a full belly and a chuckle to there different ways to prepare food or the combinations of what they put with what. It is all good and bring back memories and a smile.
But dirty filfy unwashed, lazy, unhigh genic, buggers, its off to bed hungry and time to move on in the morning, they never change. Tin food is good and there is nearly every thing you can think of in them. And go the sardines, is there any one that dose not like them ?

An old Scottish farmer I knew long time ago. Told me every time he went on a journey that would take more than 1 day. He would have in his possession a small bag of oats and a gill of Whisky. The idea was if about to die of starvation he would mix in the heal of his boot then eat it. Flying Scott
