I am driving up to Beechworth to do some fossicking. Can anyone tell me if it is OK to pan in Woolshed Creek downstream from the falls. If not, where else would be legal. I did well in Sheep Station creek many years ago, but believe it is now restricted. Getting harder and harder to find 'legal' areas. Maybe we need another Eureka!

G'day longbob, Yes you can pan, sluice or highbank from around 250 meters down from Woolshed Falls all the way to Elderado as long as you carry your Miners Right. The area is part of the Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park and its is a designated Fossiking area. You can refer to the following site parkweb.vic.gov.au/explore/parks/chiltern-mt-pilot-national-park/things-to-do/prospecting and check out the following map on the the above webpage Map-Chiltern-Mt-Pilot-National-Park-Prospecting-Guide.pdf Happy Hunting
