Hi all. Seeing as tho oallen ford is now a construction site and a no go. Correct me if I'm wrong. But it got me thinking of other places to go on the shoalhaven. I did a quick google search and a place that took my fancy was warri bridge but from photos it looks like its all sand. It's considered a camping spot with toilets and such. Wondering if its as good as oallen? And with all the sand should be real easy digging. Anyone had much luck? And is it the sand that holds the gold or is there cobbles around?

Hi Daniel.
Yer, at the moment there's not much access at Oallen. Was out there about 5 weeks ago and set just off the road on the up stream side. Did fairly good with 1.6g.
I decided to leave Oallen alone for the time being and over the past 4 weekends have headed to Stewarts Crossing. It has surprised me. I had never hunted gold out there before. The gold is fine like Oallen but there is more coarser stuff as well. Yesterday was the worse day so far with only 0.7g. Have a total of just over 4 grams from the 4 visits.
I have never dug at Wari either but know a few people that have, seems as though the gold is much the same as Oallen, very fine. Stewarts is very sandy as well but if you look around you will fine areas of large cobbles and boulders, the gold is patchy but not bad.
Keep up the good digging.
Might see you out that way one day.
Jeff

Thanks jeffu. I ask about oallen cos of the bridge being constructed and cos I want to do a test on my highbanker. I was out the in early February and thought I was onto some great gold 20+ specks per pan but at the end of the day ended up with just .6 of a gram that's highbanking. I had only just purchases the new pump and had it set on the lowest of revs but I have a feeling I blew too much out so I'm wanting to classify and run the same material thru a sluice. Make it a little more controlled.
