G'day all crusty gold scratchers out there.
My first bit of gold fever struck a few years ago when I took my son to Glendon Camp Ground near Warwick. We met up with a 3rd generation prospector who ran day trips around the grounds and he guaranteed us some colour ( Australian spelling, spell checker leave it alone) and didn't disappoint with gold in his first pan.
He had a recirculating high banker and set us up and went for a scout with his huge detector and left us to our own devices for a few hours.
No big finds but my son and I both found some flakes ( maybe $2 worth ) for the day but had a ball. It was good to get away from tv's, computers and mobile phones for a day and spend some quality time alone with my boy in the spring outdoors.
So back home and onto youtube to find out how to make my own high-banker, trommel, gold cube and blue bowl. All have been built and tested with my flakes but we never did get back out to try them. It's fair to say I like building stuff....
In the mean time, I bought a Bounty hunter quick silver detector and had a scratch around old ww2 camp sites down Brisvegas way and had great days out. Thinking pretty seriously about a Garret At Pro in the near future. I scuba dive as well and the Garrett is water proof to 10 feet.
So we have moved to Tannum Sands near Gladstone and smack in the middle of gold fields and here I am. I will dust off all the gear and find a creek to have a go.
Anyone out there who wants some company swinging a coil, panning, sluicing or scuba diving around the area from Bundy to Rocky and around Gladdy, drop me a line.
