Ha ha ! Well, it rained like there was no tomorrow, and the creek was up and fast and dirty. Persevered for a couple of hours panning, but nothing - I couldn't grab gravel from where I wanted, so was all too hit and miss. Anyway, back there soon.

I saw the mountatins copped a decent dump on the radar. Ah well, not to worry - hopefully that little deluge dumped some pickers in some pockets for you to grab next time...

Too right ! I use a hand-operated suction device that I built out of PVC - like a bait pump but shorter. In fact there's one like it on the Prospecting Channel. It has a 50mm diameter tube (the holding chamber I suppose) and a 25mm nozzle to poke into the crevices cracks. It worked well the first time I used it, but in unclear water I just couldn't see the crevices. Next time, there's always next time...

welcome cassillis,
I frequent Nerrim SF and Tanjil SF regularly and always get colour in my pan - apart from surf fishing i can't think of a more a wonderful excuse to get outdoors, we are so fortunate to live here.

Hi Cassilis,
I'm in the Warragul area and enjoy looking for gold mine/sawmill sites in the Neerim Sth, Noojee areas, just wondering where you found the boiler & bottle dump? I'd like to have a look.
Regards,
Dave.

Thanks Nuggethill,
I have an interest in the Crossover area near Neerim South, still bits & pieces being found there. I'm more interested in the history of the place, locations of buildings etc if anyone knows anything?
Regards,
Dave.

Sorry folks, dropped out while we moved from Neerim South to new place at Willow Grove, around the old Tanjil goldfields. No time to think about gold while we built and moved but all settled in past few weeks and back panning and a bit of detecting. Reading all the posts with great interest. Stay well folks... Mick (cassilis)

Still finding my way around. Couple of creeks here have been extensively panned over the years. Haven't yet panned 'em properly yet but its on the agenda !
