Went out to the shoalhaven today and met up with Shivan and Wes (1st half of wesandfi). Turned out to be fairly crap day. Took the big highbanker out and found there wasn't enough water to submerge the foot valve, ended up digging a hole in the river bed and weighing the valve down with a half tonne rock, worked for a while but was still sucking too much air. Set Wes up with my smaller HB and Shivan's pump which had the same problem. Got a bit of yellow stuff, much less than usual, probably only about 0.1 gram. Took the camera out to get some piccies and never used it. Wes. I hope our lack of effort today hasn't put you off Would have to be my first time out digging where I haven't at least paid for my petrol Ian. Hope you got home ok and no more being overcome by petrol fumes Will let you know when the next trip will be. Jeff

Hi Daniel. No, not Oallen. There was plenty of water, just very shallow. You could walk across (about 25mtrs) and not get your ankles wet. Jeff

Had a great time thanks Jeff. Made it home ok, fumes were not as bad after it had aired, though it still stinks in there. Humidity took the wind out of my sails that day, but I was still happy with the color I saw for the small amount of digging done. I forgot to take any photos, but will get some of the gold later.

Shame about the water levels. Upside is Jeff, sounds like the hand injury is healed ok yes? You wouldnt mind bringing that foot valve down here would you? Could do with some removal of H2O. Rains have set me back a couple of weeks by upping the levels just after I got onto a streak. The difference between waders and scuba gear... Would be interesting to see some photos of the area if you get some shots...cheers

Hi Mushmouse.
Yep, the hand has healed well, not even a mark to take to show and tell.
I'll send you my big pump 8,000 litres per minute, postage might be a bit high though.
Jeff
