Finally have the chance to get out and run some tests with the GoldWell highbanker. Heading out to Oallen this Saturday to put it through it's paces. Impatient me couldn't wait last weekend and set it up in the back yard pond. I had a bucket of dirt hidden away in the shed and threw that through it. It was amazing how quickly all the blonde disappeared and left only the black sand, I was also amazed at the amount of super fine gold that it held. Plenty of testing to come, need to establish the optimum angle and best water flow. It became obvious in the backyard that it didn't need anywhere near as much water as the big GoldPro highbanker, that's a good thing, no more super heavy motor to cart around.
My apologize to WesandFiona, who would have liked to see how it runs, I completely forgot that you have to work on Saturdays. I do have another "get together" coming up and I'll make sure it is on a Sunday.
Great digging everyone, see you in field one day.
Jeff

Still hoping to make it out for a sticky beak, wondering if the weather is going to be co-operative though.

Hope you have a great day out with the HB Jeff and you get onto a good streak. It's always nice to see fine gold hang about.

Would be interesting to see what actually holds the majority of the gold the drop riffle or the tornado bit.

Test trip to Oallen wasn't all that successful as far as gold goes. The Goldwell HB performed even better than I had hoped, just a lack of the yella stuff. The morning clean up was much better than the end of day, 0.22g and 0.1, disappointing results but it really wasn't about the gold, the day was to see how the highbanker performs and that side of it was impressive. Shivan had his HB running as well and we were both guilty of being impatient. NO test panning, but for me that's normal. It was pretty obvious that we picked a poor digging spot. I was mostly impressed how quickly the sluice cleared, leaving just the heavies. Daniel, when I cleaned up, I could see NO gold in drop section, it was all in the vortex wells.

Well I must say that looks a lot different to the last one. Much smaller & lighter.

Was good to get out and have a bit of a dig and very interesting to see Jeff's new setup in action, it seemed to work really well. Hopefully before I head out again I will have my spraybars redone

From the vids on utube they seem to classify the material befor hand. Did you just straight shovel or classify, then feed it. Cheers

Hi Daniel.
Because I am using the highbanker attachment, I don't see the need to classify. The HB part has its own classifying screen built in. Most of the Goldwell videos I have seen where they classify first, has been when they have the waterfall box attached directly to the sluice, I haven't tried that yet. I am feeding it straight out of the ground gravel, big rocks, small rocks and everything in between. I also find it quicker feeding with a bucket rather than straight off the shovel. Probably going out again this weekend and might try without the HB attachment.

The new set-up looks awesome Jeff. Looking forward to seeing it in action with my own tired eyes I'll check up with Fiona re next Sunday and get back to you. Weather permitting (and so long as I don't have heaps of stuff at home to finish) there'll be at least one of us, if not both. Who knows, Fiona may want to come out and look at the scenery Chat soon.
